| International "hands on" Dissolution & Bioequivalence Workshop |
| On January 23 - 24, 2001 at SciTech Center and on January 27 - 28 at the Atria Hotel, Bangalore, sponsored by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), India Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) and World Health Organisation (WHO). |
| The model for this workshop has been proposed and promoted by the Dissolution Working Group (DWG) of the Bioavailability & Bioequivalence Special Interest Group (SIG BA/BE) of the International Pharmaceutical Federation, (FIP). This workshop has been conducted in Australia and is in the process of being conducted in several other countries such as China and Latin America. The aim of this workshop is to provide both practical "hands on" training in the conduct of dissolution testing to ensure uniform practices and understanding internationally, as well as an update on current international scientific, technical and regulatory perspectives on dissolution testing and bioequivalence, by leading international experts. |
| The dissolution test has emerged as a critical tool to ensure the quality of pharmaceutical products. With an increased understanding of the complex issues which govern the performance of pharmaceutical dosage forms in vivo, the dissolution test has evolved from a simple in vitro routine quality control test to a critical parameter for in vitro - in vivo correlations in the design and development of delivery systems and a surrogate for their in vivo performance and more recently the basis of specific biowaivers. An appropriately designed and conducted dissolution test is thus viewed as a simple but powerful mechanism essential to ensure uniform standards of quality and performance of pharmaceutical dosage forms across the world. It is with this objective, that the workshop has been customised to address issues on dissolution testing and bioequivalence evaluation, relevant to the Indian pharmaceutical industry. |
| This workshop represents a joint effort of FIP with the Industrial Pharmacy Division of IPA and WHO. |
