| On February 22 - 23, 2002, at SciTech Centre, organized by Controlled Release Society Indian Chapter India is increasingly gaining prominence as an emerging worldwide supplier of generic formulations and bulk drugs. The value of pharmaceutical market in India was US $ 3.8 billion in 2000. However, trends such as mergers and acquisitions, harmonisation of regulations, TRIPS & IPR compliance in GATT era and the current biotechnology and genetic engineering revolution will impact the pharmaceutical business in India. |

| This symposium was planned with the objective of providing an excellent forum to advance the science and technology of new chemical and biological delivery systems. The deliberations focused on emerging areas of NDDS design, development and evaluation and business opportunity. It also provided an opportunity for potential business collaborations, exposure to novel research concepts and interaction with international experts. |
